Schoolof Textiles and FashionStudents Visit China International Textile Machinery Exhibition

The2024 China International Textile Machinery Exhibition and ITMA AsiaExhibition were held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center(Shanghai) from October 14 to 18, 2024. On October 15, more than 60freshman students majoring in Textile Engineering from the Schoolof Textiles and Fashionvisited the exhibition led by Associate Professor Gao Weihong, thedeputy director of the Textile Engineering Department. Otherparticipating faculty members included Sun Guangwu, the director ofthe Apparel Design and Engineering Department, as well as Ou Kangkangand Zhan Zhu from the Textile Engineering Department.
Duringthe exhibition, the students and teachers gained insights into thelatest technological achievements and development trends in thetextile machinery sector. They had the opportunity to personallyexperience the operating principles and practical applications ofvarious advanced equipment. Through interactions with exhibitors, thestudents not only broadened their professional horizons but alsodeepened their understanding of the future development of the textileindustry.
Furthermore,representatives from the college visited the exhibition stands ofoff-campus practice bases such as Santoni (Shanghai) KnittingMachinery Co., Ltd., and Hangzhou Jingwei Computer System EngineeringCo., Ltd., engaging in friendly exchanges with the relevant companyexecutives. Liu Zuguo, the general manager of Hangzhou Jingwei,emphasized that the intelligentization and digitization of textilemachinery will be the future development trend, and collaborationbetween enterprises and universities is particularly crucial inadvancing this process.
Aspart of the off-campus practical training for the course"Introduction to Textile Science," the exhibition enabledstudents to stay informed about the cutting-edge developments in thedomestic and international textile machinery field, providinginvaluable experience for their future professional studies. Thestudents unanimously expressed that participating in such an industryevent played a significant role in shaping their career planning andfuture development.
