Encounteringthe Power of "Her" — An Interdisciplinary Course Show ofthe Arts Department of the Schoolof Textiles and Fashion

Onthe afternoon of January 5, 2024, the joint course show of "Women'sWear Design and Production" from the Clothing and AccessoryDesign major and "Fashion Show Planning Internship" fromthe Performing Arts major of the Arts Department of the Schoolof Textiles and Fashionwas publicly performed at the Performance Hall of the Arts Buildingfor teachers and students both inside and outside the school. Thetheme of this course show was "Encountering the Power of 'Her,'"expressing students' interpretation of the image of women in the newera through a series of choreographed designs — "Beauty is apower that emanates from within, it is fluid, it is free."
Thecourse show was planned by second-year students of the PerformingArts major, with over 40 performing arts students showcasing 138 setsof women's wear. The outfits for the performance were courseworkdesigns from 138 second-year students of the Clothing and AccessoryDesign major.
"Women'sWear Design and Production" is a compulsory course for theClothing and Accessory Design major, aiming to guide students toexplore new methods of clothing style, structure, and process designfrom the perspective of women's wear design, grasp the process,design principles, and garment realization methods of women's weardesign, and complete the integrated design process of women's wearplanning, conception, design, finalization, production, and garmentrealization.
Practiceis the lifeblood of planning. For the course "Fashion ShowPlanning Internship," it aims to help performing arts students,based on a solid theoretical foundation in fashion show planning andorganization, integrate new knowledge within the cutting-edge fieldsof the discipline with fashion trends to achieve cognition andprofessional practice encompassing theme style planning, performanceforms, performance choreography, stage art, and stage imagery.
TheClothing and Accessory Design and Performing Arts majors of the ArtsDepartment of the Schoolof Textiles and Fashionhave attempted to implement teaching reform through "curriculumintegration," conducting cross-disciplinary teacher-studentinteraction in the professional and practical courses of thediscipline, and integrating teaching, creativity, production,planning, and fashion shows throughout the semester.
