From July 21st to 27th, 18 undergraduate students majoring in Textile Engineering from Tarim University in Xinjiang, who are part of the 2020 class, arrived at our Textile and Clothing College for a one-week summer exchange internship, led by their class teacher, Gao Qiuling. This summer internship aims to enhance the students' understanding of the textile field, broaden their professional perspectives, improve their practical skills, and elevate their scientific literacy. Additionally, it serves to strengthen the deep friendship between our university and Tarim University, facilitating collaboration in various fields, including talent development, between the two institutions.

This summer internship program was diverse and engaging. In addition to guided tours of various laboratories at the Textile and Clothing College of Shanghai University of Engineering Science and a visit to Shanghai Boge Industrial Fabric Co., Ltd., the 18 visiting students were divided into 8 groups. Each group was assigned to one of the 4 research teams within the Textile and Clothing College for a 5-day internship. Under the careful guidance of their mentors, each group of students conducted scientific project research. At the end of the internship, the students presented their project progress, research outcomes, and their internship experiences in the form of PowerPoint presentations.

Through this internship, the students delved into in-depth scientific research on eight projects, including functional fiber separation membranes, non-aqueous/waterless dyeing, textile structural coloration techniques, human protective textile materials, thermochromic reversible composite films, and biomass carbon-based superhydrophobic fabrics. This experience enhanced the students' ability to analyze and solve problems, connect theory with practical applications, and strengthened their teamwork skills. It also nurtured a strong work ethic, the spirit of perseverance, and a willingness to explore the realms of scientific knowledge among the students.
